It is Canada’s premier day for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2—the very last film in the Harry Potter saga. The very last.
Oh well. So, it’s quite reasonable to find Potterheads emotional while watching the film. I teared up too at all the sad bits. I hate it when the good guys die. It’s also sad when the baddies die. But I’m more emotionally attached to the good ones.
It’s over. It’s all over. Voldemort finally keeled over and died.
So, Potter-themed treat: liquorice wands. Strawberry-flavoured liquorice is one of my fave candies. Add some chocolate and more candies, and it’s something pretty neat.

Bunch of liquorice
Some chocolate or candy melts
More candy or sprinkles to decorate (I crushed hard candies)
Line a pan with parchment paper/tin foil/plastic wrap.
Melt chocolate in a double boiler.
Dip a piece of liquorice in the melted chocolate and shake off excess chocolate.
Lay dipped liquorice on pan and sprinkle on decorations.
Continue until desired number of candies has been made.
Slip pan into freezer for about 15 to 30 minutes to harden before eating.
